• Evaluate Your Hair Loss Diffusion

I am often asked how I determine the right solution for a women who is experiencing hair thinning or hair loss. To do this I must evaluate three areas of the guest. These areas include a grad of diffusion, grade of pattern stage, and answers to personal profile questions. This along with a private consultation help me to determine the best solution for a woman.

With this in mind, let’s focus on the first area, your grade of diffusion, or the percentage of thinning or loss in a pattern area. By doing an at-home diffusion evaluation, you can figure out the severity of your personal hair thinning and loss. My video above, along with the steps below, walk through and discuss the important steps that we use for our guests at Jeffrey Paul Salon.

After showering, while hair is still wet, use a hand mirror and your bathroom mirror to take a good look at the top, crown and side of your head. Part your hair down the middle from the front at the hairline and compare it to the nape of your neck. Typically the nape of a women’s neck is less affected by hair loss so by comparing the two areas, you can estimate how much less hair is at the top of your head, at the crown or side of your head.

I use a grading scale to find this percentage of hair loss:

• Grade I (10%-20%)
• Grade II (30-50%)
• Grade III (60-80%)
• Grade IV (90-100%)

Once you have figured out your personal grade of diffusion, you will be able to have a better idea of what solution would be best suited for your needs. My Solution Matrix can be found in my Personal Hair Loss Evaluation Guide, along with the step by step instructions on how to determine the grade of your pattern stage, along with the personal profile questions you need to ask yourself.

If you are having a hard time determining your diffusion grade or would like to learn more about the right solution for your individual hair loss please email or call me to set up a private and personal consultation with one of my consultation specialists.
