Kristin is a stage one breast cancer survivor. As a result of her chemotherapy, she knew she would lose her hair. That was both scary and confusing. She had always been known as someone with a full head of thick, blonde, beautiful hair. Even though she knew her hair didn’t define who she was, she was still very overwhelmed.
Consultation:
At my salon, the first step for Kristin was to meet with one of my consultants who evaluated her situation and her coming loss. For Kristin, we recommended a full cranial prosthesis. Kristin learned everything about a new hair system—how measurements were taken, the cap fitting, the breath-ability of the piece, the differences between human hair and synthetic, how it would be secured, and more.
Design & Cap Fitting:
The next step for Kristin was properly fitting her cap. The cap fitting is extremely important to ensure that the hair system fits securely and looks natural giving Kristin the confidence that she would be able to maintain her active lifestyle without worry.
My consultant then helped her select the best hair color, even down to the roots. We chose a blend of colors that would match closest to her natural color so her new piece would look natural.
After the hair system was custom made, we securely attached the prosthesis, cut and styled her hair to her natural look. Kristin has a perfectly symmetrical, oval-shaped face. For this shape, any hairstyle works great!
With the hair system in place and Kristin looking and feeling great, we wanted her to be able to continue that feeling! We want guests like Kristin to be able to wear their hair system as long as they can, this means properly maintaining it. We taught her methods, tools and products to use that were safe and would make it last, look natural and be easily maintained on her own!
