In the midst of our busy lifestyles and daily spiritual battles we face, do you know how to really rest?
Some people may define Rest as sleeping well; some think of it as taking a vacation; and others would say it’s just doing nothing. How do you define Rest?
In Hebrews 4:9-1, God defines Rest in a different way. He calls it a Sabbath-rest: not only to identify one day a week to rest, but for rest to be a life style for everyday of our lives.
“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest…” HEBREWS 4:9-11
But what is this Rest?
When we come to the knowledge that God’s love for us is so much more powerful than anything we could ask or imagine, we will Rest in that knowledge and rely on His love for us for all things in our life. EPHESIANS 3:14-21, 1JOHN 4:16-18
The Sabbath-rest is more than a religious day each week; it is Rest from us trying to control our own lives with our own thoughts and ways, and truly seek His thoughts and His ways that are so much greater for us because He loves us. ISAIAH 55:6-9
A great prophet said when he came to this knowledge,“not by my strength, nor by my power, but by your Spirit o’Lord.” ZECHARIAH 4:6
Let us this day and everyday live our lives in the Sabbath-rest of trusting His love for us is greater than we even trust ourselves or anyone else on earth. PROVERBS 3:3-6
