5 Things You Need To Do NOW To Get Ready For Bikini Season

summer holidays, technology and beach concept - girls making selSpring break has come and gone and summer now looms on the horizon…and with it that dreaded moment when you’ll find yourself shopping for a bathing suit. Don’t fret, if you act now there’s still time to tighten up before hitting the beach.

My friend, and our outstanding health and wellness expert, Marisa Dicenso-Pelser, shares her five tips to help you get ready for the summer season!

Do these 5 things NOW to quickly get yourself into bikini shape…

Cover Me… I’m Going Thin!

It’s the opening credits for Pretty Woman, and we see Viv putting on her leather boots as she gets ready. But they are not perfect, so she takes out a black magic marker and colors in the worn spots so they won’t be noticeable. It works – we don’t notice them, and people could relate.

Camouflage makeup is one of the simplest ways to deal with early hair thinning and loss, particularly for those who are experiencing between 10-20% thinning. To do this we can use light powder and liquid covers dark or red spots on skin, and dark and light powders and liquids can conceal thinning areas on scalps. If the right products are used, we can look nearly perfect and no one will notice hair thinning and loss issues. because many of them had been using that technique on their shoes for years before the movie came out.

Here are some of our tips for applying camouflage makeup:

Creating A Royal Diversion

When you are experiencing hair thinning or loss, one of your best tools can be your very own hair! Stylists all over the world are using specific styling and cutting techniques to hide (or accentuate!) all sorts of features. This skill set is so very important when you are looking for help with hair thinning or loss. This skill is the ability to determine what the perfect style is based on your facial structure. Let’s take a look at an example:

How do you know if your face is square? Take a look at your jaw line and forehead. If you have a ‘square brow’ and your jaw line and your brow are the same width chances are that you have ‘square’ facial features.

Now that we know you have ‘square’ features we can begin to determine how to make your hair look full and thick without any replacement pieces! One of the best ways to create the allusion of a full head of hair for women with a square face is to use volume and structure, much like the picture of Michelle to the right. In order to give Michelle the allusion of thick hair we would want to soften her sharp jaw angle and minimize the shape of her brow. To do this we would frame her face with a soft fringe to make it look more oval, and cut the bulk of her hair to less than 4 inches with layers to add ‘fluff’ to give the illusion of volume. With a few peek-a-boo bangs and layering around the next Michelle’s look is softer, fun and gives her great lift to minimize the insecurity of her hair thinning!

It’s amazing what the right hairstyle and cut can do for your face, or the volume of your hair. And it’s not the same for each face! It’s so important to talk with your hairdresser about the shape of your face and what will work best for you!

Ask Jeffery—Longer Eye Lashes

“Jeffrey, how can I make my eye lashes look like those commercials where the eye lashes get bigger, broader and wider?” –Lauren

What a great question! The key is to having fabulous full lashes is to use a clean, makeup free, mascara brush. After applying a layer of good mascara—while the mascara is still wet—take the clean wand and extend the mascara even further! Also remember to wash your mascara off before bed so they look beautiful each morning!

Thank you for sending in your questions and continue to post them below or on our Facebook page!
