My Angel’s Are Making a Difference!

Jeffery Paul AngelsI am so proud to announce that my team at the salon has taken it upon themselves to start their own team to for the Wigs for Kids Zoo Walk. They are working very hard to raise $1,800, on their own, in order to sponsor one child whom is in need. They have put together some raffle baskets and have hand-made hair accessories to help collect donations for the Zoo Walk. Along with this next week, July 22nd they will be hosting a fundraising happy hour at Burntwood in Rocky River at 6:00pm where they will have free appetizers, raffles to win prizes and sign-ups to come to the Zoo Walk.

If you’re going to be in Cleveland next weekend (July 27) help us raise money for more children to receive wigs by creating a team and signing up to join the Wigs for Kids 8th Annual Zoo Walk at the Cleveland Zoo, it’s a great time and a great cause!

How Walking Can Change Lives

Wigs for Kids Cleveland Zoo Walk RecipientWho knew that walking a 5k could mean a hairpiece for a child? And at age 5, what exactly does a hairpiece mean to a child?

The answer, at least for Emma Hutchinson, is to fit in.

Emma is one of Wigs For Kids’, the non-profit organization that I founded with my wife, recipients this year. Emma is a Ballerina Princess and when she steps onto a stage, this little girl shines on the stage like no other.

Emma has been suffering from a disease called Alopecia, and even so, her bright eyes and heart of a child have allowed her to have fun and enjoy life with her dancing, swimming and playing baseball. But because of her hair replacement system from Wigs for Kids Emma will be able to experience that time that every little girl goes through a time where she learns how to put her hair in a simple ponytail or even something more intricate like a French braid.

With the help of the Cleveland community at last year’s Wigs for Kids Zoo walk, and donations from all over the world, we are so very happy to be able to provide Emma with the hairpiece that allows her to feel beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. We can’t help but be inspired by Emma’s love of life and her ability to find joy even during a trying time. Thank you Emma sharing your story with us.

If you are inspired by Emma’s story please go to the Wigs for Kids website,  we are hosting the 8th annual Wigs for Kids Zoo Walk on July 27th! Sign up to walk/run a 5k, donate your hair during our cut-a-thon, or create a team and help raise funds so that we can help more children like the beautiful Emma!

Power of Your Words – To Heal or To Hurt

The words that we surround ourselves with everyday have a much more impact than we can imagine. When we speak something or hear something often enough we begin to believe it as truth. That’s why it’s so important to remain positive and aware of our inner AND outer beauty on a daily basis. I have developed a three-step process that allows you to heal the inner parts of your being that have been hurt by the words of others or even by the words or thoughts of yourself. Watch the video above to begin the process of metamorphosis!

Sometimes Even Superheroes Need A Little Help!

I was so inspired by the creativity and for-thought of this hospital, because from a child’s perspective…cancer isn’t so scary if you’re the Batman.

A large part of the battle for those suffering from cancer and other dreadful diseases is the mental toll of your physical ailment, especially for children. In order to help the children at their hospital, the team at A.C. Camargo Cancer Center created customized comic books and have their medicine delivered to them via ‘super serum!’ (Read the full article here)

It’s amazing how much we can help the children around us with a little bit of creativity and a lot of love. It’s for these children that Wigs for Kids holds an Annual Zoo walk, so that all sorts of other little superheroes can look as strong as they act. There is nothing more heartwarming than the smile on a child’s face when they feel beautiful. If you’d like to participate by creating a team and joining in the activities or donating to our Wigs for Kids 8th annual Zoo Walk, here is some more information.

“Helping children look themselves and live their lives.”

LaurenSummer is finally upon us! And with summer comes some amazing events with Jeffrey Paul Salon and Wigs for Kids — most importantly our ‘Wigs for Kids day at the Zoo‘ where thousands of participants walk/run and donate to support children in need. Children like Lauren McManaway.

Lauren McManaway, age 7, is a 2013 Wigs for Kids recipient. Lauren is a beautiful 7 year old girl who is always smiling and fun loving!  She loves to sing, do tumbling and to skate.  Her favorite sports are cheer and gymnastics.  She is a member of a mini cheer team Level 3 and is a Midwest National Champion.  Lauren has 3 siblings, one of which is her twin sister.  She enjoys jumping on her trampoline with her sisters and practicing her newly acquired skills in gymnastics.  Lauren is a big fan of trying to beat her older brother at xbox!

Wigs for Kids – How our organization is changing lives

JP BlogThis week, I want to spotlight an organization that’s very close to my heart. Wigs for Kids is a nonprofit organization that I started over 30 years ago when my beautiful niece came to me and told me that she would be losing her hair due to Leukemia. My niece, Laura, is no longer with us, but her legacy lives on every day when donors from all over the country cut off their pony-tails and donate them to children in need through our nonprofit organization.

These children are school-aged kids who are suffering from medical related hair loss, many of them suffering from Alopecia. Wigs for Kids will hand make a customized hair replacement system, worth roughly $1800 a piece, and donate the wigs to the child in need – for free. With the Wigs for Kids wigs, children can run, skip, hop, tumble and swim just like any child their age without worrying about what they look like.

But it’s not just the hair that’s life-altering for these children. Our spokesperson, Annie who came to Wigs for Kids with Alopecia in 4th grade, recently won a $50,000 college scholarship from the Maltz Museum Stop Hate contest for an essay she wrote (watch below). What Annie told the world is that Wigs for Kids did not just give her back her physical appearance, the organization helped her regain her self confidence – she’s now able to live life as a normal child. (Simply amazing, don’t you agree?)

And that, as Annie noted, is the mission of Wigs for Kids – to  help children live their lives. And we can accomplish that for hundreds of children every year with the support of fans, organizations and celebrities like the Green Bay Packer’s AJ Hawk, The Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton, The New Orleans Saints’ Thomas Morstead and many more.

Thank you so much for your support. To learn more about our organization or Alopecia, click the links below:

Jeffrey Paul presents the ‘Mother of the Year’ award at this year’s Mom Squad Luncheon

Mother’s Day is a beautiful reminder to celebrate the women in our lives who are doing extraordinary things every single day. This year,Wigs for Kids had the pleasure of presenting the ‘Mother of the Year’ award at the 95.5 Fish Mom Squad luncheon on Saturday May 11th. A total of 50 deserving moms within the Cleveland area were nominated and we’re proud to announce the winner, Christine Boyle.

Christine is a mother who has 2 very special children. Her daughter requires around-the-clock care, all of which Christine provides in her home. In addition, Christine and her husband recently adopted a son from El Salvatore who also has many health concerns. Not only is Christine a wonderful Mother, she is able to help others by speaking with health care professionals about the needs and care for children and taking trips all over the world with her church to care for under privileged children. Below I’ve included a video of her entry including some beautiful photos of Christine and her children.

Beauty Begins Within!

Inner beauty is a concept used to describe the positive aspects of something that is not physically observable. When you look in the mirror you only see one part of you. When you look into your inner spirit what do you see? Do you see yourself as beautiful, precious and loved? If not, then it’s time to change.

Metamorphosis – Rediscovering your Inner Beauty

Inner Beauty - Jeffrey PaulListen to the voice within you. As you think about yourself, what do you hear? You’re fat? Ugly? Old? Your hair is too thin? Or is your inner voice saying:

“I’m beautiful, I’m precious, I’m radiant, I’m loved.”

We all know people so filled with confidence, optimism, and joy of living that they radiate warmth as if lit by an inner sun. It glows from their eyes. It leaps from their smiles. In their presence, we find ourselves straightening our shoulders and smiling back, heartened. This is the gift that they share with us – their inner beauty revealed.

Ralph Marston

Take the time today to do something wonderful. Take the time to do something that reminds you of how precious and beautiful life is.

Those urgent matters that seem so important are really not, when compared to the unique miracle that is your life. Take the time today to feel truly alive.

Look closely, with your heart, and see magnificence in the smallest and simplest of things. Instead of trading all your time for money or ego boosters, invest a little time in being genuinely at peace.

You cannot schedule life’s richness for later. Yet you can always enjoy it now.

Let yourself live that richness. Joyfully give in to the longing of your spirit.

Feel the immensity of existence. Be the beauty that you know you are.

Rest

In the midst of our busy lifestyles and daily spiritual battles we face, do you know how to really rest?

restandrelaxation

Some people may define Rest as sleeping well; some think of it as taking a vacation; and others would say it’s just doing nothing. How do you define Rest?
