Do you ever feel like your hair is lacking shine or just dull looking? Friends, you are not alone! When speaking to women, lack of shine is one of the most common problems they have with their hair. So, here are two tips on how to get back that shiny hair you desire…and deserve!

1. Use the right kind of brush – A brush that is made with a combination of Mongolian Boar and bristles, will help your hair’s natural oils to be distributed equally and throughout each strand, making your hair silky smooth.

2. Know what type of hair you have – The texture of your hair is very important when selecting products that will not only repair hair, but also help to add shine.

Women… It’s Time To Come Together

One out of every four women are experiencing some form of hair thinning. What most of those women don’t realize is that they are not alone. As a woman, you relate to other women, you empathize, sympathize, support and care for one another. It is easy, and important for a woman, to be able to share about her life, feelings and relationships. As a woman, you need this as it makes you feel more whole and complete and most important – not alone.

However, when it comes to talking about something as sensitive as hair loss, many times I find that the women I see,on a regular basis, don’t want to talk about it…not even with other women…not even if it meant finding a solution. This in turn leaves many of these women feeling very alone and stuck.

Let me be the first to tell you that if you are experiencing hair loss and have either found or not found a solution – you are NOT alone! On Tuesday, September 29th my center will be offering a styling class. This is an opportunity for women, both who have found a solution and who are considering a solution to come in and be with women who are just like you. It is your opportunity to not only get some great hair tips, but to meet women who can relate to exactly what you are going through. To tell their stories of what they went through before for finding a solution and now that they have a solution. This is your opportunity to not only take advantage of helping your hair look great, but to never feel alone again!

This is a great question! Tangles are a women’s worst enemy when it comes to hair. Many of the women I talk to ask why they can’t get the tangles out of their hair or better yet how to get tangles out of their hair or hair system. One of the biggest culprits for not getting tangles out of hair is using the wrong types of brushes. Not only will the wrong brush not get the tangles out, it could also create further damage by causing hair breakage. For a women who has thin hair or hair loss, any additional breakage to hair could be devastating. So the right brush makes all the difference.

The Wet Brush is my go-to detangling tool of choice. At first glance, The Wet Brush looks like an ordinary hair brush, but with just one use, you will notice a complete difference. It can be used on wet or dry hair. It quickly and painlessly detangles even the thickest, most stubborn hair. Linsey’s Full Makeover

Linsey was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease, an autoimmune disorder leading to hyperthyroidism, back in 1996. As we spent time with Linsey we found that her hair loss was caused by a combination of Graves’ Disease, Hashimoto’s Disease and the medications associated with them. For these types of diseases that cause damage emotionally, and physically it’s so important to build awareness so that women who may be suffering can seek and find help.

Freshen Your Bathroom Naturally

There’s a saying that says “A Lady Never Tells,’ and there are some household problems that we don’t ever talk about! Well I’m about to share one of those secrets with you; I’ll let you in on this very special one for keeping your bathroom fresh!

I came across a great tip that I couldn’t help but want to share with my readers. This is a simple way to freshen up your bathroom, and one you’ll never forget.

Every time you take out a new toilet paper roll, add 2-3 drops of the essential oil of your choice to the inside cardboard of the roll. That way, each time you or someone else uses the toilet paper, you will instantly experience the fresh scent of that particular essential oil.

Control the Urge to Over Eat this Holiday

You know that feeling, the little voice that says “Well, I can just eat one more cookie, it IS the holidays.” We have all been there. The holiday season can be a challenge when it comes to managing your healthy eating habits. But I want to help. Here are a few simple steps to help you cut down from overindulging this holiday season.

1. Focus on the people – not the food.
The holidays are meant to spend time with friends and family. So do that, talk among those you are with, you’re not there for the food.

2. Make the occasional exception – not the rule.
One day of splurging on holiday food is ok. Just make sure to get back to your normal routine the next day and get through the New Year.

3. Host the party.
You can ensure there are healthy choices when you host. If you are going to someone else’s house, offer to bring food.

Watch Judy’s Solution to – Women’s Hair Loss

Do you remember Emma? Children like Emma and Kiken (read his story below) are able to hop, skip, jump and play around the playground just like normal children their age despite suffering from illnesses that leave them with little to no hair on their heads. How? Because of your generous donations of your own hair, your time, or your finances.

Last weekend the community of Cleveland came together for a cut-a-thon at the Cleveland convention center to cut their hair for this year’s Wigs for Kids recipients, but tomorrow you have the opportunity to help even if your hair isn’t 12 inches long! Sign up to Walk/Run at the Wigs for Kids Day at the Zoo event where we will be celebrating these fantastic children by raising money to help more children look and feel themselves. The event and sign up information is below, don’t miss out on a chance to put a smile on a child’s face!

For 8-year-old Kiken, receiving a hairpiece will change his life. Because he suffers from alopecia, the kids at school are bullying him. With the funding for a hairpiece he will fit in among his peers and be a ‘normal’ kid!

My Angel’s Are Making a Difference!

I am so proud to announce that my team at the salon has taken it upon themselves to start their own team to for the Wigs for Kids Zoo Walk. They are working very hard to raise $1,800, on their own, in order to sponsor one child whom is in need. They have put together some raffle baskets and have hand-made hair accessories to help collect donations for the Zoo Walk. Along with this next week, July 22^nd they will be hosting a fundraising happy hour at Burntwood in Rocky River at 6:00pm where they will have free appetizers, raffles to win prizes and sign-ups to come to the Zoo Walk.

If you’re going to be in Cleveland next weekend (July 27) help us raise money for more children to receive wigs by creating a team and signing up to join the Wigs for Kids 8^th Annual Zoo Walk at the Cleveland Zoo, it’s a great time and a great cause!

How Walking Can Change Lives

Who knew that walking a 5k could mean a hairpiece for a child? And at age 5, what exactly does a hairpiece mean to a child?

The answer, at least for Emma Hutchinson, is to fit in.

Emma is one of Wigs For Kids’, the non-profit organization that I founded with my wife, recipients this year. Emma is a Ballerina Princess and when she steps onto a stage, this little girl shines on the stage like no other.

Emma has been suffering from a disease called Alopecia, and even so, her bright eyes and heart of a child have allowed her to have fun and enjoy life with her dancing, swimming and playing baseball. But because of her hair replacement system from Wigs for Kids Emma will be able to experience that time that every little girl goes through a time where she learns how to put her hair in a simple ponytail or even something more intricate like a French braid.

With the help of the Cleveland community at last year’s Wigs for Kids Zoo walk, and donations from all over the world, we are so very happy to be able to provide Emma with the hairpiece that allows her to feel beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. We can’t help but be inspired by Emma’s love of life and her ability to find joy even during a trying time. Thank you Emma sharing your story with us.

I am so very excited to announce the Wigs for Kids 8^th Annual Zoo walk that will take place on July 27^th at the Cleveland Zoo! If you’ve never participated before, I urge you to consider signing up for the 5k walk/run or creating a team to help fundraise!

What is the Zoo Walk? The Zoo Walk is Wigs For Kids’ (our non-profit organization that makes and gives FREE wigs to children suffering from medical related hair loss) biggest fundraiser of the year. This year we are hoping to raise roughly $360,000 in order to provide 20 children with wigs.
