Budgeting for YOUR Hair Loss Solution

bigstock-Money-accumulation-concept-Mo-18977981

There are many factors that will influence your hair loss solution selection. Certain options will meet your budget. Others will meet the degree of quality you require, and yet others may best meet your time constraints. A part of my New Years resolution is to help you figure out how you can find a solution for your individual hair loss.

My advice starts by using the total approach mentality to evaluate the best investment you can make. Consider timeline, quality and cost, as well as any other factors of importance to you. Of course, the quality of your initial investment will help drive the success of the solution for your situation. I strongly encourage you to seek out a hair restoration and replacement professional that can expertly guide you.

Cover Me… I’m Going Thin!

Untitled

It’s the opening credits for Pretty Woman, and we see Viv putting on her leather boots as she gets ready. But they are not perfect, so she takes out a black magic marker and colors in the worn spots so they won’t be noticeable. It works – we don’t notice them, and people could relate.

Camouflage makeup is one of the simplest ways to deal with early hair thinning and loss, particularly for those who are experiencing between 10-20% thinning. To do this we can use light powder and liquid covers dark or red spots on skin, and dark and light powders and liquids can conceal thinning areas on scalps. If the right products are used, we can look nearly perfect and no one will notice hair thinning and loss issues. because many of them had been using that technique on their shoes for years before the movie came out.

Here are some of our tips for applying camouflage makeup:

Ask Jeffrey: Human Hair Vs. Synthetic Hair

Synthetic vs. Natural Hair

“Jeffrey, I have made the decision to proceed forward with a hair solution. Before I do so my biggest question is which hair is better for me Human Hair or Synthetic Hair?” ~ Jackie L.

This is not only an excellent question, but the answer is also very important in order to make the best selection for your hair loss solution. Let me take you through some of the details of the two types of hair as well as the Pro’s and Con’s of both.

Linsey’s Story – Attachment Methods

For those of you following our Hair Loss Makeover Winner, Linsey, and her journey, you know she has gone through a private consultation to determine the best solution for her hair loss.

In order to further determine the best custom designed solution for Linsey, or anyone who comes in to Jeffrey Paul Salon, we must determine Linsey’s lifestyle, in order to determine which attachment method would be best suited for her needs.

In the video above I will take you through and explanation, as well as some facts, about the two types of attachment methods. These two attachment methods are:

Linsey’s Story – Determining a Solution

Last week, I introduced you to our Hair Loss Makeover Winner: Linsey and I promised to keep you updated on her amazing journey as she undergoes her full makeover.

The next step for Linsey, or anyone who comes in to Jeffrey Paul Salon, is a private consultation to further understand her hair loss. This personalized discussion is one of the most important steps for any of our guests.

In the video above I take you through three of the components, of a consultation, that allows my team to create a custom designed solution. These three components are:

Ask Jeffrey – “What Will He Feel If He Touches My Wig?”

bigstock-Love-and-affection-between-a-y-44327488

I had the opportunity to write an article for Help Me 2 Stop, an organization working to bridge the gap between Trichotillomania suffers and salon professionals, and I want to share this article with my blog followers because I feel like every woman experiencing hair loss may have these same questions.

There are many special holidays and events that can be a time when many women experiencing hair loss want to hide away and not celebrate with that special someone. You ask yourself, “will he notice that I’m wearing a hairpiece,” “what will he feel when they touch my wig,” “what will his reaction be if I tell them I’m wearing a wig?”

These are all questions we contemplate each day we walk out of our homes and into a world where others never think of these things. But there are things you can do to build confidence in yourself and confidence in your true beauty.

How to Tackle Your Hair Loss: Part 2

bigstock-Content-cute-blonde-drinking-a-52035331 In my last blog I talked about how you can start to tackle your hair loss this year as a personal resolution for yourself. If you have begun to collect the hairs that fall out each day, then I want to discuss the next steps.

We want to evaluate various factors or your lifestyle at different times to see how problems might be progressing. You should note that hair loss is related to what happened yesterday – not today. We will likely have forgotten what might have caused it, because the loss becomes noticeable only after the events that triggered it. I encourage my clients to keep a diary or a journal of their hair loss over a ninety-day period – which represents the cycle of hair. I encourage you to do the same before you begin addressing your hair loss concerns constructively, and continue to alter.

For the same reasons, we take a two-to five-year personal history on a client in our initial consultation and create a timeline showing the correlation of events in their lives with noticed amounts of loss. When our clients see these timelines, they often say, “I didn’t realize that all of this was happening at the same time.” The main reason to do that initial assessment is to win the first half of the battle – understanding what has actually happened that brought about some of these issues.

After evaluating every aspect of your life, your hair restoration specialist should have a better idea of why you are experiencing hair loss, what steps you can take to prevent further hair loss, and what solution is a best fit for you.

If you would like to learn more about the right solution for your individual hair loss please email us to set up a private and personal consultation with one of my consultation specialists.

How to Tackle Your Hair Loss: Part 1

2014 is the year, the year to tackle your hair loss and find out how you can find a solution.

Treating your hair loss starts at home. The products you use at home will change. The way you take care of your hair and even the manner in which you do many standard things in your life will change to accommodate the needs of your hair. I want you to begin to chart your course of treatment and monitor your needs in order to have the most effective outcome.

About a week before clients come in to see us at the Jeffrey Paul Salon, we have them gather and count the hair that falls out during that week. When they come in, we conduct an analysis using a microscopic video monitoring of their scalp, the follicles, the openings where hair emerges from the scalp, and other factors, in order to measure and put a value on the stage of your loss so that you can understand the steps you will need to take to alter the situation. If you collect hair you’ve lost and put it in a clear plastic baggie, daily, for a week, you can see at a glance whether you are losing more or less hair as time goes on.

Ask Jeffrey: “What to Ask When Searching for a Hair Loss Specialist”

JP_AskStylist_1_9_14

“Jeffrey, I have begun losing my hair and am unsure about what to ask my stylist or a hair loss specialist in order to find someone who is going to do a good job recommending a solution. What questions should I be asking?” ~ Alicia P.

When a woman begins experiencing hair loss and thinning it can be an experience with a lot of unanswered questions. What do I do? What can I do? Is there a solution for me?

Talking to your stylist is a big step, and one I want you to make as part of your New Year’s resolution. You may be embarrassed, you may want to hide your thinning and loss, but your stylist is there to help. Here are some questions to ask your stylist, or a hair loss specialist, and what responses you would want to receive.

1.   Do you specialize in women’s hair loss issues? Can I talk to one or two of your clients who had similar circumstances to mine.

  • Good answers: Yes, or, mostly. Of course, we can arrange that, and maybe you can even meet one of them, who was happy with our work – have a look at the solution she selected!

2.   How long have you been doing this?

Bethany Overcame Trichotillomania

JP_BethanyBeforeAfter_10_2_13

“I feel like a completely different person. I can’t remember the last time I felt this confident. I feel like this is how I am supposed to look. They helped me look the way I am meant to look.”  -Bethany

A fabulous head of hair, a beautiful smile and confidence – that’s what you see when Bethany walks into a room. But it wasn’t always so. In fact, since she was five, Bethany has suffered from Trichotillomania – also known as hair pulling. Not just harmless hair pulling – hair pulling that results in hair loss. For Bethany that hair loss led to drastic action when she was in high school. She was so desperate to get rid of “her problem” that at one point she shaved her head; reasoning that if she didn’t have any hair, she couldn’t pull it out. Thankfully, Bethany was able to correct her situation with a hair replacement system.

We helped prepare Bethany for her hair system by carefully reviewing each step of the process – outlining options for color and style and ensuring that lifestyle and preferences were a major part of the final outcome.

That time, she was lucky enough to have her hair grow back. Then Judy had to go through radiation and lost her hair again. Unfortunately, this time it never fully came back, and as someone working in the public eye, she was concerned that people could see her scalp.

Pam Found a Solution for Female Pattern Hair Loss

JP_PamBeforeAfter_8_28_13

“I feel so confident. I can say ‘yeah’ and ‘hooray’ – this is the Pam I used to be!” –Pam

My good friend Pam had hair loss, which greatly affected her life. At 63 years young, this retired school principle was devastated. She remembered her mother going through the trials and tribulations of hair loss and the struggles of trying to style her hair to camouflage the thinning. All of which didn’t work. Pam told herself she would never go through that and yet with her significant hair loss, she was right where her mother had been. Pam came to us at Jeffrey Paul salon and we were able to help her find a solution that allowed her to live her life without the worry or stress associated with thinning.

RomdGndhpXTuCJk6N40YJtUCxw10lyBebUer8KD1unM Consultation:

We helped prepare Pam for her makeover by beginning her experience with a consultation to review each step of the process. We outlined options for color and style while ensuring that lifestyle and preferences were a major factor of the outcome for her replacement system.
